TOP HEEL HORSE OF THE 2025 BFI. $351,128 IN LIFETIME EARNINGS. 5X FUTURITY CHAMPION.

It’s Gucci: A Breeding Philosophy Rooted in Performance, Pedigree & Mare Power

A lot has been said about Nu One Time Blues and for good reason – he’ s the winningest team roping horse of 2025 (through early July).

According to QData, the roan stallion has outpaced even the pro-rodeo horses with the $132,268 he’s already racked up. That brings the former Snaffle Bit Futurity finalist’s lifetime roping earnings – at just 6 years old – to $351,128, with the richest roping futurity of the year still to go in October. The stud padded his earnings in April when he helped Joseph Harrison place second at the Bob Feist Invitational (where he was named Heel Horse of the BFI).

$351,128. He's not just a looker, he's a closer. 2025 you have been so good to us. Halfway through and the climb has only just begun. We will be in Fort Worth this weekend for the American Rope Horse Futurity Cow Town Classic! Come see us!

And he’s not the only Gucci Equine stallion having a standout season. This fall, 4-year-old Magnums Shinin Spark, also trained by Harrison, could repeat what Nu One Time Blues did as the 2023 ARHFA 4-Year-Old World Champion. Magnum won a go-round and finished fifth at the Old West Futurity in June for $17,152 and then placed second at the Cowtown Classic for another $7,700. Magnums’ dam, Shinin, is out of a Nu Cash daughter, just like Nu One Time Blues.

In fact, let’s talk about mare power. The Gucci Equine broodmare band gives you an idea which pedigrees are valued most by ranch owners Brett and Margo Davis. The bottom line is anchored by multiple daughters, each, of Dual Rey, High Brow Cat and Metallic Cat, plus daughters of Stoli, Slick By Design, Peptoboonsmal, CD Olena and granddaughters of High Brow Cat. Some of these mares are also out of daughters of Smart Mate – known for his massively huge stop.

“We wanted mares that were real cowy but are bigger-boned,” said Brett. “Obviously, we went for conformation and lineage, but Smart Mate is one of those lines we really like. And I’m a huge Dual Rey fan – I really like how they can move, and usually all of them can run.”

Davis is especially excited about a 3-year-old filly he just sent to Harrison for training. She’s by Scooter Cat – the Kit Kat Sugar son out of a mare with Dual Rey/Smart Little Lena/Freckles Playboy blood. And she’s out of Hustle And Flo by Metallic Cat out of a One Time Pepto/Doc’s Stylish Oak/Freckles Playboy mare.

He’ll also keep a handful of Gucci Equine’s own fillies back, too. The ranch’s broodmares last year had some babies that can’t help but become the cream of the crop. In addition to yearlings by $12 million sire Woody Be Tuff, there are several by Clay Smith’s late, great red-roan heading powerhouse Bet Hesa Ginnin.

What’s more? Davis actually bought the mother of that horse, Ginnin Stoli. She packs The Four Sixes’ famous Stoli (racing) and Tanquery Gin (cutting) cross – and she gave Gucci Equine another baby by Bet Hesa Cat, making it a full sibling to Smith’s late head horse.

If that doesn’t make a team roper salivate, consider Davis’ plans next year to breed not only both Stoli daughters, but also his Slick By Design and Smooth As A Cat daughters, to Nu One Time Blues. The future looks bright — and you can see the mares shaping it all on the Gucci Equine Broodmares page.

High Hopes for Magnum at Cowtown: Magnums Shinin Spark

The sky’s the limit for Gucci Equine’s 4-year-old palomino stallion Magnums Shinin Spark – and he’s got a great chance in today’s first round of the ARHFA’s Cowtown Classic Futurity in Fort Worth.

It was just last month at the Old West Futurity that Joseph Harrison won the first round on “Magnum” with that smoking 231.38-point score for $4,000, and they finished fifth overall despite a leg penalty for another $13,152.

“He’s extremely broke and extremely good to heel on,” said Gucci’s Brett Davis. “He’s another Joseph Harrison prodigy.”

Gucci Equine bought Magnum as another stud prospect, and no wonder – he came from the same source as Nu One Time Blues (“Boujee”), the 6-year-old roan stallion that’s already earned nearly $350,000. Magnums’ mother, Shinin, is out of a Nu Cash daughter, just like Nu One Time Blues.

In addition to inheriting the color of her standout roping sire Shining Spark, Shinin has a dam named Its All About Cash, by Nu Cash – the only NRCHA Open Snaffle Bit Futurity champion to sire three other Snaffle Bit Futurity champs. And Its All About Cash was out of a daughter of the great Doc Olena that went back on the bottom side to Thoroughbred racing blood via Depth Charge and Double Bid.

Magnum’s standout breeding continues on the top side. His sire, Magnum Chic Dream, was a reining superstar – a $12 million producer that’s in the NRHA Hall of Fame. Magnum Chic Dream, in turn, was by another reining Hall-of-Famer, Smart Chic Olena, out of a daughter of million-dollar reining sire Topsail Cody.

It’s no wonder that Gucci’s Brett Davis has had some people interested in buying Magnum. But he hasn’t sold him just yet, with a lot of Pre-Futurity money still on the table.

Magnums Shinin Spark is bred to shine—by Magnum Chic Dream and out of a daughter of Shining Spark and Nu Cash. His pedigree is stacked with reining and roping greats.
